Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts is a state-owned college established in 2000 by Sichuan Conservatory of Music for the future Sichuan University of the Arts.
Sichuan Conservatory of Music (SCCM) has a brilliant history of more than 60 years. Currently, Sichuan Conservatory of Music is the only music university in Southwest China , with a comprehensive educational system, a bulk of distinguished musicians and experts, modern equipment and outstanding achievements in teaching and performing. According to the plan of the Government of Sichuan Province, we were working hard for the Sichuan University of the Arts hoped to be completed in 2004, the first and only comprehensive university of the Arts in China .
Conforming to the trend of educational development, Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts is trying a hyper-convention way, following the spirit of reform, and creating the brand-new model of great-leap forward development. With the powerful strength and the ascendant conditions of running school, the newborn academy starts with a four-year educational system with 700 freshmen in the first year. And after that, we've soon got qualified for the awarding the Master's Degree. Now we have nearly 3000 students including the graduates and the undergraduates in the academy. Owing to the extraordinary progress and outstanding achievements, Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts has received lots of favorable comments from the Educational Department of Sichuan Province, Sichuan Conservatory of Music and various circles in the society. As a torchbearer, Mr. Ma Yiping, the President of Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts, a famous artist and educationalist, he is leading a group of excellent teachers who come from 8 different academies in China , especially a bulk of professors and experts who have great reputations in various fields. The whole faculty is full of solid foundation of arts, much experience of teaching, meticulous attitude to academic research and professional dedication. Thanks to their endeavor, they've purchased the love and esteem of the students. At the same time, the academy has impelled strong influence on more and more students and the parents. We have 10 departments including 8 majors and 2 departments, including Oil Painting, Traditional Chinese Painting, Sculpture, Cartoon, Visual Communication Design (Graphic Design including Packing, Advertisement, Pictorial Poster, VI Design and Bookbinding Design, etc.), Environment Art Design (the two majors of Indoor Design and Garden & Landscape Design included), Industrial Design (the two majors of Product Design and Exhibitive Design), Digital Media. Besides these, there are the 3-year Majors Department (only recruit students from Sichuan Province and Chongqing City ) and the Postgraduate Department. According to the demands of developing society, we will offer new subjects in the future.
