Green Bamboo Sea in Shunan


Located in Changning and Jiang'an of Yibin, Shunan Bamboo Sea Scenic Spot cover an area of 120km2 with a 44km2 central scenic part and have 8 scenic parts and 134 scenes. The main scenes include: Mo Stream, Wangyou Valley, Jadeite Long Corridor, Xianyu Cave, Tianbao Stockaded Valley. Tianhuang Temple. Fairy Maiden Lake, Yingfeng Bay, etc. In the scenic spots there are Bamboo Sea Museum, old folk residences on Mount Xijia and fish fossils. It is a comparatively big primeval ecological bamboo forest combining mountains, rivers, karst caves, lakes and falls with artificial scenes of long history. Its landscape is very picturesque and graceful.

Shunan Bamboo Sea has complete basic service facilities where food, hotel accommodation and transportation for tourists are found convenient. In 1988 it was authorized by the State Council to be "the State-level Scenic Spots in China". It was awarded one of the "Forty Good Tourist Attractions in China" in 1991 and the "Chinese Biosphere Reserve" in 1999. In Sichuan Tourist Development Program, it is designated one o the four world first-developed scenic spots in Sichuan. In 1996 Li Peng, the Prime Minister of the State Council at that time, wrote an inscription "Shunan Bamboo Sea is the greenest bamboo forest in the world". In April 1999 and in October 2000 Jiang Zemin, General Secretary of CPC, and Li Peng, Chairman of the CCPC, inspected successively Bamboo Sea and set a high value on it.
