Rice Farmer, BaliPhotograph by James Key, My Shot As my brother and I navigated our way through the endless twisting and turning roads of West Bali by motorbike, I peered into my rearview mirror to find him nowhere in sight. I pulled to the side of the road to wait, and spied a rice farmer toiling away in the midday heat. He captivated me with his modern plaid Western shirt and traditional sedge hat and hand scythe. A perfect example of the blurring lines of culture found more and more often in the 21st century. |
