Place in the sun

A stray cat enjoys the sun by the ancient Roman temples in downtown Rome's Largo di Torre Argentina. Some 250 to 300 cats have taken shelter in the place also known as a "cat sanctuary," in the ruins of one of the older temples in Rome.

Headed home

Researchers from the Audubon Institute, The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Institute, and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries release sea turtles that had previously been impacted by oil from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, back into the Gulf of Mexico, 45 miles off the coast of Louisiana.
