A boy rolls his wheel out of Kibera slum in Nairobi, Kenya. Kibera is known as the largest slum in Africa, with an estimated one million people compressed in a fusion of rusted corregated metal and tattered cardboard, all within an area measuring three-fourths the size of Manhattan's Central Park.

"Where have you been, my son?" said Joseph, our driver and guide, while on safari at Amboseli National Park, Kenya. He was in fact describing the moment of tenderness that took place in front of us. Earlier, this baby elephant waded out of the marshes with its mother and was later greeted by another female in the herd. For a moment it looked as if the baby elephant was smiling.

On safari in Kenya I came across four cheetahs relaxing on a mound. It was an amazing sight, made all the more remarkable when I caught them all looking down the lens.
